1912 - Harrison Library opened
Does not receive money from city taxes.
Receives grants from Idaho State Library.
1986 - Special meeting called by Mayor George LaValley who introduced the Kootenai Library District Director John Hartung. Hartung stated he "understands City may be interested in consolidating with Free Library District."
Library District is funded by County-wide property taxes at $10.25 per $50,000 of property value.
Election required for decision to join Library District. If passed the consolidation would start fiscal year 1987-1988.
